Assignment One

A (Due Next Class) Internet Research:

Explore and create what others have created with iMovie - and original short web videos in general.

Some web sites to start with can be found on the links page!

Of all the examples you see, choose three (3) you consider the most interesting and discussion-worthy.

Write down the web addresses of these three - for class viewing and critique.

B (Due next class) Brainstorming and idea outlines.
Create rough outlines for 3 short film movie ideas. Think about the way each one of these ideas could work as a final project and about what is realistic for creation within 6 weeks.

Assignment Two

A (Due next class) Movie Planning:

Use your rough outlines for 3 movie ideas, and choose your 2 favorites. Begin to outline 2 of your movie ideas. Storyboard the one that works best and is the most appropriate. Choose to use one of the following techniques:

1. Begin with 2-3 sheets of poster board. Cut one-two sheets of it into squares then plan out your shots and story in pieces. Use each cut square to represent a shot. Rearrange the squares until you feel that you have created a good composition, and then glue them down to the third piece of poster board.

2. Use the storyboard form provided with the syllabus. You may want to make more photocopies of it before drawing on it. Plan out your shots in the same way described above. Number the shots below the frame square beginning with the number 1 representing the first shot in the movie. By using the numbering system you will be able to rearrange the shots and end with a cohesive movie plan.

You may want to use the following to create your storyboards:
1. Illustrations
2. Magazine Clippings
3. Photographs
4. Text
5. Clip art
6. Scanned or downloaded images
7. Index cards

Keep in mind the end result needs to tell your story in a cohesive manner and professional.
